Hello friends! 

Just a little update and what is going on with me and the music here. I just got back from a 3 week tour across Canada with Ken Stead. We took our five year old daughter with us and it was an adventure to say the least. If you'd like to check out a few videos we took on the road please click HERE.... 

We are glad to be back home and settled and I have exciting news to share!......This September I will finally be heading back into the studio to record a full length album with Producer Miles Wilkinson. I am beyond excited because not only is Miles a great guy, he is just so talented and has worked with a lot of great musicians over the years. Please stay tuned for updates on all that. 

The last really great piece of news I have for you is that I am opening up for Dar Williams on August 4th in Calgary and I am really looking forward to meeting her and hearing her songs live. She has had quite the impressive career and I am just so grateful for this opportunity.

Hello Folks, 

In just about two weeks I'm heading out to the International Folk Alliance Conference in Kansas City. I'm so excited and honored to be apart of this. In other news, Ken Stead and I are in the midst of planning a cross Canada tour. We leave on May 25/16 and are really looking forward to packing up our little Toyota Prius and hitting the road! I am also back in the studio making some new music for you. I'm SO grateful to be working on this upcoming project with celebrated recording engineer and producer - Miles Wilkinson - a man who's worked on records from everyone from Bonnie Rait, to Guy Clarke, to Rosanne Cash.  

I am thankful that I am able to support my family by doing what I love and want to thank all of you for your continued support.

Hello again my friends,

Its been a little over a month now since the Edmonton Folk Fest. It has been one of my all time favourite festivals to attend, so to be asked to perform at it was truly special this year! I wanted to share a couples photo's with you that were snapped before we went on & from behind us while performing on main stage.












What a feeling to stand out and look at that hill! It was a dream come true.

Next order of business is I am heading out on a Western Canadian Tour beginning October 3rd! We start in Calgary and head west. I will be hitting the road with my partner in crime Ken Stead. I hope this message finds you well!

Tonight I am playing a concert at The Winspear Centre in Edmonton, in the complete dark. It's in support of Blindfest bringing awareness to the blind and partially sited and the challenges they are faced with. I'm pretty excited about it being in the dark, I think it will ad a really cool element.

In other music news.....

This past month has been spent playing some shows around Edmonton and sticking pretty close to home. I have also been gearing up for the Canmore and Edmonton Folk festivals! I am excited beyond words to perform at both of those festivals this year, it still feels like a bit of a dream.

For the Edmonton Folk Festival I will be on the main stage on Thursday evening at 7:50 for a short tweener and again on Saturday at 3:00 with The School of Song on Stage 2. Check out the whole line up and schedule HERE. At this point in my career I am so excited to be given the opportunity to play at this world class festival.
 


The first festival on the list will be the Canmore Folk Fest. I will play a set on Andy Donnelly's Celtic show LIVE at The Civic Centre around 6:00pm, so be sure to tune into 94.9 or you can stream it online by clicking HERE. Andy is so kind and a huge supporter of music, I am really looking forward to chatting and playing some songs on his show. After the CKUA show, I head to Communitea Café to play a set along with some other talented artist's. I will be playing at various times and locations throughout the weekend. If you would like to have a close look at the whole schedule for Canmore Folk Fest....click HERE. My goal of the festival is to meet Martin Sexton, and while talking with him try and keep my cool and not just stand there smiling like an idiot.....You could say I'm a fan.

If you are still reading....

On a non related to music topic...we recently got a dog. Yes, as if life wasn't busy enough, I thought it would be fun to throw a dog into the mix, haha. That being said, we really have fallen in love, She is a rescue dog named Cleo and my daughter Lila is quite taken by her, well we all are. Although it has been a bit of an adjustment we couldn't be happier about it, and the puppy cuddles are great! My daughter's first comment was "finally I get to have a sister!".

Little Lila will also start kindergarten in the fall, which, now that I am writing this on here it seems to be making it feel more real. Yes, I am one of those mom's that will most definitely bawl like a baby on her first day of school.

I will leave you with the latest video I recorded with The Northern Sessions. They were all so amazing and professional to work with, we had a real blast shooting the videos. Thanks to Eva Foote and Ken Stead for lending their voices to these songs.

The song is written for my daughter Lila. Inspired by the ups and downs of motherhood, this song is for all you MAMA BEARS & PAPA BEARS out there.

I am so excited and honoured to be a part of Andy Donnelly's CKUA show tomorrow February 6th! Read about what the program will look like HERE .
 

During the show great stories and moments from the past 20 years will be shared, Andy’s guests will include Edmonton Folk Music Festival director Terry Wickham, Bill Werthman of the Northern Lights Folk Club, Jim and Jeanette Maclachlan of the South Side Folk Club, CKUA Alumni Ken Davis, Roddy Campbell of Penguin Eggs Magazine, the always wonderful Maria Dunn with a live performance, and Tom Coxworth himself.

Later in the program we take a look and listen to where the Folk Routes are leading us, with a visit and performance by two of the new young kids on the block, Erin Kay and Mohsin Zaman.

This is much overdue but my life was taken over my the busy Christmas season! 

First I need to thank all you awesome folks who came out to the CD Release show for 'Into the Light' at The Artery in Edmonton. My deepest gratitude goes to all of you who helped to make the night a SOLD OUT show! The album is now available on iTunes and you can purchase it by clicking here! 

A big thanks as well to CKUA & CJSR for playing tracks off 'Into the Light'. 

Another awesome event that took place this month was a concert called 'Joy to the World'. It took place at Trinity Baptist Church and us musicians raised money to help abolish human trafficking here in Alberta. I was honoured to play alongside some fine musicians such as Joe Nolan, Scott Cook, Braden Gates, Ken Stead, Cayley Thomas, Alex Vissia, Lucas Chaisson, Justine Vandergrift & Dennis Bouwman, Billlie Zizi & Jim & Penny Malmberg. I'm happy to say we raised over $1500! 

This year has been a fantastic year filled with releasing my brand new album, media interviews, playing at various festivals and writing for the future projects! I'm so excited for what 2015 has in store! I will be embarking on a tour to support the new album 'Into the light' in 2015, stay tuned to see if I am coming to your city!

I hope this christmas season has blessed all of you with endless amounts of love and light!

The other day Justine Vandergrift and myself were invited to CJSR 88.5 to promote The CD release show of my upcoming debut album 'Into the Light'! Justine Vandergrift is an amazing singer/songwriter based out of Edmonton Alberta and she will open up the evening with her partner Dennis Bouwman at the CD release show. Ken Stead is the other fantastic folk singer/songwriter opening the evening this SUNDAY NOVEMBER 30th. Unfortunately he was unable to make the interview at CJSR but he is not to be missed. On another note 'Into the Light' will be released in less than TWO WEEKS. Thank you to everyone who has already purchased tickets for the release party. We are getting down to the last of the tickets and it is looking like we will sell it out! Yesterday I headed on down to the post office and sent out over 100 copies of the disc to radio stations across Canada and the USA. You will soon be able to request your favorite songs off 'Into the Light' on your local radio stations! A couple weeks ago we released a single from 'Into the Light" titled 'All these Years' which you can listen to or purchase by clicking HERE.

Now that the release date is almost upon us I have 1000 different emotions running through me, mostly pure excitement! This is a huge accomplishment for me as there have been many things I've had to overcome in order to complete this project. Two years ago I never thought this was even possible for me to do. Thanks to all the amazing folks in my life who pushed me and supported me through this! I'm feeling so much love from everyone & my heart is full!
